Join us a freshwater mussel training on Wed, May 16th!
We need your help to survey for mussel presence across streams in the Schuylkill River Watershed. Freshwater mussels populations have been declining, and streams without mussels are at a serious disadvantage since mussels provide many benefits, such as protecting against erosion and filtering and cleaning water.
The good news is you and your volunteers can play a huge role in surveying for mussels! Join us to learn how to conduct a survey and engage your volunteers to help look for and identify mussels. The workshop will consist of a presentation followed by a hands-on surverying in local waterways!
The workshop will take place in Auburn, PA (Schuylkill County) from 11am-2pm. Please bring your own lunch and water. You will be getting into the stream, so please dress appropriately!
