Jeremy Monroe is a biologist-filmmaker and founder of Freshwaters Illustrated, a nonprofit organization dedicated to producing and sharing imagery and stories of freshwater ecosystems, biodiversity, culture, and conservation. He has worked across the US and beyond, learning about and sharing the beauty and wonder of rivers, lakes, and wetlands and the stories of those who work to understand and protect them. Jeremy carries a love for water and a background in aquatic ecology and leads a talented team of creators to produce immersive imagery and films that convey the beauty and value of freshwaters.

Hidden Rivers” is a 1-hour film that explores the rivers and streams of the Southern Appalachian region, North America’s most biologically rich waters. The film follows the work of conservation biologists and explorers throughout the region — revealing both the beauty and vulnerability of this aquatic life — and how many people are finding ways to protect these ecosystems.
